Let me remind you what you said in your original post:
That being said, I too wish that any punishment would have been levied much earlier (or no punishment at all) and that all this would have blown over long ago. Now it hangs over the team's heads and the fans' heads like a dark cloud and is marring what should be a celebratory time as the season starts.
Your post wasn't about the effect on the game, but that the lack of having the whole thing cleared up already was a dark cloud that is marring a "celebratory time". You didn't say anything about the effect on the game itself (win, lose, score, etc) but the portrayal of the media and the feeling as a fan leading up to the game.
So, no, the news or lack of news regarding suspensions doesn't affect my excitement for the first game or season as a whole at all.
Secondly, even if the post had been about the effect the suspensions might have on the game itself, I try not to let things I can't control affect my behavior. Obviously I like it better if BYU wins, but I can still enjoy the game if they don't.
