The only reason you wouldn't have seen the sun AT ALL until April would have been because you were looking at the ground. It was an exceptionally snowy winter, yes. But, even assuming for the moment that your memory of the time WAS correct, you clearly had to reach for a non-typical winter to try to make your point.
