I worked for Byu housing while a student
It was my job to inspect student housing to make sure it met minimum standards. What an eye-opening experience.

The word slumlord is a fitting title for most BYU housing landlords. Despicable circumstances especially for married housing south of campus.

Many times I witnessed mattresses on the floor and blankets only for babies with lights dangling from wires out of the ceiling Furnishings were sparse and always old and dirty.

The most pathetic thing was the flooring. Carpets with ripples because it was so stretched and worn with giant frayed holes where ever there is s seam. I'd be afraid to take my shoes off for fear of catching something.

Just checked one of my kids into university Villas this week and can accurately say that nothing's changed. As a fellow Landlord I'd be embarrassed to take someone's money to live in the place that I saw my son check into. No excuse for what I saw. It was pathetic.

BYU needs to compel the slumlords to improve these living conditions for BYU students.
