I sat with a friend who had been on the team for one season as a back up DB. He called every single play and who it went to. That was a Norm Chow offense , and we won that game. Clearly knowing the play that is coming is not an unusual thing. Nor is it a bad thing like some here want to believe. Clearly Chow was so predictable that he went on to win two NCs with USC.
