I'll never forget the time I was invited down to tour the new athletic facility. It was a hot afternoon and two of my sons and I showed up wearing shorts and t-shirts. I didn't look like anything special but our business was just being acquired and there was five to ten million dollars of new money profits injected to our business within months. Our CC guy didn't know any of this.

I check in at the desk. The receptionist calls the guy and says so and so is here for a tour. She tells me "I'm sorry the last tour left five minutes ago". I said "are you sure there is nobody who can just show me around?". No.

What they didn't realize is that design of the building is such that you can hear guys from a few floors up and you can see them in the reflection and by stepping out and looking up. I had heard both ends of the conversation and witnessed him looking down to size me up then clearly making a decision that I was not worth fifteen minutes of his time.

I have not been a proud donor since.
