I have never bought in to the "BYU likes to make demands" rumors
I know that BYU has that reputation, but I think every school looks out for their own needs, and almost all of that reputation is sour grapes from fans (and some administrators) from the old WAC and MWC days. In my opinion, BYU simply had/has different needs than other schools.

People complain about Sunday play, but as a religious school, BYU really has no other option, and of course if BYU did play on Sunday, the haters would be pointing fingers and shouting "hypocrites!" so that's just a lose-lose for BYU.

People complained that BYU "demanded" (and ultimately got the shaft on) additional options in the Mountain West TV agreement. But of course none of those schools have anything close to the fan base that BYU has, nor the ability to televise their own games that aren't picked up by the MWC TV partners, but when BYU goes back to Comcast and says "Hey, you said we would be able to put games on BYUtv" the other schools say that BYU is being demanding. Of course, Wyoming, New Mexico, SDSU (et al) had no such needs and were thrilled to just be quiet and take their equal share of the TV money (despite bringing far less value to the conference).

Utah and TCU get a hearty congratulations from other schools for leaving the conference, but when BYU does it, schools are outraged and talk about how BYU is arrogant, how BYU tried to ruin the conference (?), and how they will never play BYU again, blah blah blah.

If looking out for your own legitimate needs makes you "demanding," then I hope that BYU continues to be demanding in whatever conference negotiations come up in the future.
