I know you weren't saying that directly but it was implied. How much are we really going to pay teachers? $150k? $300k?
Doctors pay way more for their education and spend years and years in school and low-paying residency. I'd rather have our best and brightest people doing my surgery than teaching math to my kids.
Seeing what teachers get paid on average, I think they're paid about right. Maybe they should be paid more if we went to year round school, but not until then.
If new teachers are dropping out because of low pay, then they're short sighted. Most entry level positions in any industry are low paying. Teacher salaries are not a secret and they ought to know what they're getting themselves into.
