Selfishly, I really, really want to see him play a full, senior year at BYU. The world has been deprived of what that could be. Love Tanner. Love his drive, his enthusiasm, his moxie...but if Taysom came back I'd hope he earned the starting position.
Now I do believe positions are earned. If Tanner smokes him in spring and fall camp, it's Tanner's job. But presuming his experience and physical capability win out, I want him starting and I want him playing 13...or make that 14 games.
I think there have been three must see Cougars that stand out to me. Detmer, Staley, and Taysom. I think McMahon was superior to Detmer...but there was just something about the little, no arm, aw shucks way that Detmer killed teams that made it spell binding. When Staley got a seam, it was like watching a stallion run like a gazelle. He was so smooth...yet powerful. And Taysom...I don't even know how to describe what he does...it's almost not human.
So yes, I want to see a full senior season in blue. But if Taysom decides another option is best for him...I am behind him all the way. He's nothing but class and when you say a player leaves it all on the field...he epitomizes that.
I want whatever he chooses.
(But if he went to Utah he's dead to me.)
