context of needing a P5 conference to keep up long term with P5 programs. Going to a G5 conference does NOTHING to help us keep up with P5 programs, and it would in fact put us in a worse position than we're currently in. Therefore, Holmoe's and Bronco's comments about independence not being sustainable long-term should not be seen as some sort of admission that BYU would be better off in a G5 conference. What Bronco and Holmoe are saying is that we very much want to move to a P5 conference. What we may end up doing long-term if we remain locked out of the P5 conferences is yet to be determined. If we can compete with these more difficult schedules we have coming up, staying indie may well be the best alternative.
