This is not new. In the Cougar Room during the pre-game program
The AD of either Cincinnati or East Carolina asked BYU to join their conference. The Conference director was there and echoed those thoughts. This has been offered in previous years as well.
IF it became absolutely necessarily, I would be okay with BYU forming a new conference taking the best of the AAC, MWC and possibly CUSA. I think creating such a conference with 14 schools would one dominate the non-P5 arena and place their champion in the New Year's Six every year. But it could possibly and that's a big possibly push to create a P6, although very unlikely.
I do appreciate the scheduling agreement the AAC is helping BYU with, but I am confident BYU will be in a P5 conference soon.
