They won't need 12 teams, and they clearly don't see 2 schools that boost their profile enough to expand. They will simply improve their OOC scheduling and will have their 13th game, and push for CFP to go to 8 teams. They'll be fine. They don't need us, don't really want us, and probably won't be inviting us unless the landscape changes.
