...I had similar feelings. The lead also isn't very believable with her super powers and there were some weird plot turns (knocked out by neighbor's 2x4 but not a truck?). However overall good acting and like you said a bizarre kind of villain with different powers made it intriguing. The constant question of if someone were not themselves was always present. I preferred DD for the action sequences but this had more interesting characters.
