...they do not have enough offense to be a legit top 10 team and that has played out. Solid defense and special teams with good playmakers on both units but almost no playmakers on offense. In this day and age of college football you have to be able to throw the ball well and score points to be a legit top 10 team. Yewt coaches and fans are whining about injuries ruining the season but that's football. Everybody has been impacted by injuries. Good teams have competitive depth.

If Utah went into a LVB matchup with BYU (as you say) depressed by the realization of what they thought "almost was" then for BYU that would be a great time to play you guys. Bronco has struggled in recent years vs Kyle and catching Utah slumping would help balance the competitive scale between them like it did with Alabama in the 08 Sugar Bowl. They came in depressed because of what they had lost (a realistic shot at a NC) and Utah got pumped up as giant killers and took advantage of their lackluster, dispirited play.

Despite that potential advantage, I don't see anything exciting about the potential match-up. We play a lot of Pac12 teams every year and playing another middle of the pack Pac12 team just doesn't excite. Ho-hum. If I was a player, going to Hawaii would be nice this time of year and playing a top 25 opponent like Temple or Toledo that we're not familiar with would be exciting.
