You get dominated and have your season derailed by your rival too many teams, and any coach, anywhere starts to fill the heat. LSU has the resources and built in advantages to get elite results, and everyone there knows it.

LSU has been dominated by Saban of late. This year, expectations were sky high with the Tigers being in the National Title discussion. Saban and Alabama completely shut LSU down, which has been the trend over the last few meetings. Then the wheels fell off the Tigers' season. That's enough to ruffle feathers within a lot of fanbases, including LSU.

As I said, I think Miles ought to come back, but more of the same won't keep him, or any coach, in Baton Rouge. Big time programs that start trending towards getting whupped by their rivals rarely stick it out with the status quo.
