They both consistently beat average to bad teams.
They both consistently lost to higher ranked teams.
They both started on the defensive side of the ball.
They have similar winning percentages (although -- Bronco has faced tougher teams).
There are a lot of other similarities, but I'll stop there.
LaVell did have a few special seasons, though... Bronco hasn't. Also, LaVell knew how to develop assistant coaches...Bronco has struggled in this regard (perhaps confounded by money and institutional issues?).
I'm not saying this to take anything away from LaVell--he's a legend. Bronco isn't, but to say that Bronco hasn't been 'good' is unfair.
