Joining a G5 conference does nothing to help us keep up with P5 programs, and would, in fact, make it even more difficult. Also, the AAC is very likely to lose at least 2 teams at some point to the big12 or other P5 conference, so the AAC isn't really that desirable. BYU's best course is to make the best we can out of independence unless/until we're able to convince a P5 conference to let us in.
