every win against a non-P5 program is (or should be) a given, despite the fact that we are not a P5 program. BYU doesn't have the recruiting or financial or scheduling advantages of a P5 program. Yet, BYU is expected to perform as a top-end P5 program, to the point where any game against a G5 program should be considered a given and we generally expect our team to outperform just about every P5 program as well.
I like the high expectations and all -- I like that there's a desperate eagerness to be considered "part of the club" and all -- but sometimes our inability to recognize our own limitations and place in the college football pecking order gets a little ridiculous. Anytime I talk to the Ohio State or SEC fans around me, they're shocked that any BYU fan would expect to compete on a national level.
