The director of the Vegas bowl stated BYU wants to attend Las Vegas. He went on to say that in their discussions to reduce the fear of the Hawaii Bowl, BYU informed the them they don't know where they will be in 2019. BYU could be in a conference, have their own bowl tie-ins, or be aligned with a conference with their bowl tie-ins. This was to help Hawaii feel better as their concern is that BYU will have to go to Hawaii in 2019, if not selected this year. If BYU has to attend in 2019, it might mean the local team UH, who could be bowl eligible would have to play elsewhere vs. in their home stadium.
BYU admin, coaches, players and families all want Las Vegas.
Coaches and Players want the best competition with the most exposure. Regardless of their record, defeating a P5 school in Las Vegas trumps beating a G5 school in Hawaii. Players have heard how the Vegas Bowl treats the teams and have commented they would like to go there.
Admin. would love Las Vegas and making approximately $1.0 after expenses vs. losing money going to Hawaii.
Families want Vegas as it's close, they can attend, less expensive, and home for the holidays.
Vegas is #1 on the team's, Admin, families, and fans minds.
Go Cougars!!!!!!!!!!!!
