With infants its really hard to tell when they are or will become septic. Its pretty standard procedure to admit newborns with fever, start on antibiotics, then stop when cultures come back negative. I have no real clear reason why the kid has 50 WBC on urine sample but nothing growing on culture, but at the same time urinalysis and microscopies can show some funny things sometimes.
