a school not associated w/ ESPN was chosen. ESPN may want BYU because it adds a late game option with 2 quality opponents at least every other week.

If the Big 12 were smart they would pick a school that has a proven track record of good ratings and a great following. Projecting that another school will get better ratings and a better fan base is too risky for a conference that might not exist in the next decade.
