I, for one, do watch defense.
Emery is getting a bit of defensive cred on the board b/c he anticipates passes and has a last name synonymous with D at BYU.
However, the younger Emery has great difficulty staying in front of opposing guards. On the perimeter, he lunges a TON and does not close out. He loses his man far too often. On top of that, he isn't real big and can be backed down.
Emery does have basketball instincts and is a FR RM. He needs court time and work in the weight room with strength and lateral quickness. He can get better on D, and I expect he will. But to call him effective now is a tremendous stretch.
