The Broncos game plan was pretty obvious. Play it safe on offense and let the defense take over. Payton for the most part did that, with only a couple of mistakes that in the end really didn't matter. In fact, Carolina only got 3 points off of Denver turnovers, while Denver got 15 points off Carolina turnovers (18 if you count the missed FG). So Payton was able to do more with what his defense gave him than Cam was able to do.
