1st -- I cut a broomstick handle and taped one end for a handle. I pitch wiffle golf balls overhand. Really makes them focus on keeping their eye on the ball and it is hard to have a bad swing with a broomstick. It will also teach bat speed as their broomstick is very easy to swing.

2nd -- I have about 50 tennis balls that I use in our church gym -- have him use a real bat.

Encourage bat speed and let him learn to make consistent contact.
