He may possibly be considering UVA or other places because of BYU fandom,
headline hungry sportswriters like Patrick Kinehan spouting nonsense, and stupid biased fan polls. Most fans are not wise enough to just SHUT UP, and let Taysom decide what to do, and support him in that decision, whatever it is. We are lucky to have him, and any other comments about being "injury prone" or not, accurate or not, or "limiting someone's development" or not, are counterproductive to everyone, and not valid, no matter how much time you spend sitting in your parents' basement in your underwear spouting off about your football knowledge on CB. If your opinion is different than Taysom's and Ty' s, then it lacks any substantial validity.

The "limiting Tanner's development" argument is nonsense. This very point is expressly contradicted by those who claim Tanner did so well this year after his mission (which he did), but it certainly did not seem to limit Tanner's development to be on a mission for two years, nor did it limit the development of Steve Young to be behind Joe Montana, Brett Favre (when he rode the pine at first behind ?), or any other great QB (like Tanner is) who has had to be a backup prior to being the eventual starter.

The "injury prone" argument also bears little weight, since prior injury does not necessarily predict future injury. Taysom's 3 major injuries were not at all related to each other, and fractures are not at all like chronic problems, or injuries like repeated concussions, shoulder dislocations and /or separations, or major joint / ACL injuries. Once the shoulder joint labrum is disrupted or the ACL ripped from the bone, this can never be "uninjured." They can be repaired or heal, but never truly undone. Taysom's injuries are freak injuries that often heal stronger than the original tissue, and all he needs is one good year to prove to the scouts that he is not necessarily injury prone. which I actually don't believe he is. Football is a rough sport, and injuries just happen - ask some of the greats like Peyton Manning and Ben Rothleisberger.

Finally, the "accuracy" argument is not supported by the evidence. In reality, Taysom had a better completion percentage his junior year than John Beck, Ty Detmer, and Steve Young all did in their junior years - look it up. And that was clearly with an almost non-existent TE presence, a boon to almost any QB's percentage, a poorer receiving corps in general than any of the other three had, and a significantly more suspect / porous Oline than any of these former NFL QB's had to facilitate such numbers.

I just wish people would shut up and let Taysom make the decision, without trying to point out all of their invalid reasons why they think they know better than him, or that they know better than his coaches like Ty Detmer.
