Are there worse defenders than he that play for BYU? Yep. At least Emery is scrappy.

I just don't think Emery is currently an elite defender. At times, I do assert that he's been poor, and that's against WCC opponents. I keep asking who Emery has locked down. Perhaps (understandably) people don't have a mental catalogue at the ready or aren't willing to take the time to go back and research specific instances? Fair enough. But no one has offered an answer.

Put Emery on a top 15 squad in an elite conference. What's his role? Defensive stopper? No way. At this stage, I say he gets eaten alive trying to hold down athletic guards from the ACC, etc. Emery would be on the floor primarily as a spot-up shooter and would most likely come off the bench for some instant offense.

There is no sin in this whatsoever. Emery an RM freshman and a very good one. I simply don't think there's much to establish him as a solid defender at this stage beyond some good instincts, which I've repeatedly noted, and a somewhat-more-aggressive nature than others on his own, defensively-awful team
