The WCC conference schedule had to begin that week.
So the conference season could end in time for the tournament. BYU was given a bye on Monday the 21st so they didnt have to play a conference game then travel to Hawaii and begin play 2 days later, and play 4 games in a week. Since San Diego is their travel partner they were slated to play on the 23rd, but obviously couldn't. BYU and SD were given the option to pick any day during the conference season to play, and this is what they chose.
What would you suggest the WCC do instead?
