We've had a Q7 for the last 4 years (2012 Q7). We got it with 11,000 miles on
it, and I was weary myself about the same things. I've always thought they were a three year car. Own it for three years and then dump it. With that said, we have pretty much had no problems with it. $800 to replace front and rear brakes, $100 for wheel realignment, and about $300 per service checkup at the dealership, which includes the oil change.

Now, I wanted her to get a BMW X5 as we had an X3 before, but she wanted to try something different. After about a year, she wished she had gotten the X5, just for the handling and driving enjoyment factor. The Q7 has been a very good car. We now have 75K miles on it, and like I've said pretty much no problems.
