My focus was on how it could be argued that "blue bloods" suffering from down years could hurt college football (dissenter's original claim that relegation is bad for cfb), specifically in terms of general interest and revenue generated...it can be argued. I don't fully buy into the argument but I respect it. Dissenter was respectful enough to elaborate for me and the board and I gave him props for that.
Your point that blue bloods should not be protected is something I actually fully agree with. I don't think any institution should be given preferential status, they should earn it based both cumulative history and current performance, not solely on cumulative history. I also agree a multi-year system would be more logical than a one-year system.
