For someone who is willing to take the time, this is easily disproven
Anybody with a lot of time on their hands could go through the roster and find quite a few whose offers are documented on Rivals or Scout.
BYU does have a FEW walkons like that, but the vast majority of scholarship players had multiple offers (even after Utah announced that they were in fact non-committable).
