Pretty sure I had a sentence explaining the exact reason why.
It helps to manage expectations. If your source is a friend of someone in the AD office, naturally there is a much larger chance of error. If you are talking directly with someone in the AD office, there's a higher probability of accuracy.
Either way, I like to hear the info, but it helps to put things in perspective and manage expectations.
