Utah has been able to hold the P5 card over BYU's head for several years, and their recruiting has gotten a boost because of it. Several players have chosen them over BYU largely based on that alone.
Losing that advantage makes them as apprehensive about the situation as we were when Utah joined the Pac. At the time Utah joined the Pac, BYU fans knew that this would be a big deal for them, and it has been. There was a lot of angst among our fans when the playing field slanted in their favor.
Undoubtedly Utah fans recognize this and of course it won't make them happy. It removes the biggest card that Utah coaches could hold over BYU's head when recruiting.
If/when BYU officially joins the Big 12, I hope our fans can be adults about this whole thing and not adopt the whole BCS snob attitude that many Ute fans so quickly latched on to. Part of it was undoubtedly to jab BYU Fans. Hopefully, we go about business as usual. None of the neener-neener-neener attitude to them, and no attitude to other schools still in the MWC.
I hope BYU remembers where we came from.
