I believe USU could get there. LDS growth has greatly enhanced Utes, Aggies, and UVU in recent decades.
There has been very little enrollment increase in BYU enrollment during the last 45 years while LDS growth has increased 500%. Used to be you could get into BYU with an 18 on your ACT. RMs were guaranteed admission. During the last decade, BYU Idaho has absorbed some of that growth but most LDS in the region land elsewhere.
My belief is that BYU Provo should allow enrollment to double over the next decade and raise tuition some to offset the costs. At some point, higher education elites won't be able to ignore us.
But no question Utes, Aggies and UVU have to thank LDS growth and the business friendly culture in Utah for their improved standing in athletics, among other things. That is likely to continue.
