I took cypresstx's advice and gave a deadline to move. Some follow up:
1. The bishop of my sister who passed away had called me prior to her passing about the condition of the house. The ward had gone in to clean the house, and he said the property should be condemned. In the two years since her death, my nephews have continued to live there rent free and without paying taxes but letting the house deteriorate even further. My realtor sent pictures and video of the property.
2. My mother who lives in Idaho said prior to my selling the house that she wanted to move into the house. I'm thinking "Mom, I can't let you move into a condemned house."
3. I told my nephews that I was selling the house and that I needed them to move out. I gave them a deadline which they failed to meet. I later found out it was because my mother found out that I planned to sell the house and she told them not to move.
4. I went ahead with the sale and gave a new deadline. The house sold. Again, keep in mind that this is a house I haven't seen in 26 years, I'm told that it should be condemned. The county has also informed me that taxes have not been paid for three years. An estimated $60000 were needed in repairs to make it livable. My mother says she wants to live in that piece of garbage and I didn't want that to happen.
5. I went ahead and sold the house. Paid some of my mom's debts, but she refuses to speak with me. Such is life.
