I'm betting that within 10 years, there won't be any conferences at all. All the major football schools will break away and form a single league with a collective TV package and profit sharing program similar to the NFL. They will have an elected commissioner who will assign teams to divisions based on geographic proximity - eight divions each with eight or more teams. Count on it!
