PK this morning and where we are in all of this.
PK this morning said his sources are no longer saying anything. He relayed that these sources that don't want to say anything that might mess things up. PK affirmed that he wants BYU to be in the Big 12 and that they deserve to be in.

I have no personal inside sources, but my FO lists and people in chat have said much the same thing and that their sources have gone dark. All but one of these sources have remained optimistic, and still feel BYU chances are good.

I believe that many people both in the news and have defaulted to their original opinions. Before these sources went dark, most were saying that things looked good, with some saying BYU was essentially in, but interestingly none of these sources have ever given a day when they were certain announcements would be made. And the ones I really trust are optimistic, but know that nothing is set on stone until contacts are signed and announcements are made.

Stewart Mandel defaulted back to BYU is going to get passed over by UH and UC because he leans left and believes that the LGBTQ issue is a likely deal breaker.

Berry Trammel thinks it's a money grab (which is what he said was possible) and there is only a 50/50 chance they expand buy he has always thought BYU is the best candidate.

A few people Trammel, Swaim and at least one other said they don't think the Athletes Ally letter has made much of an impact.

But if you read any of these stories carefully, it's clear that they are speculating. They keep quoting anonymous sources, but their suppositions are rooted in their own biases and their non connected sources.

If you've tracked others from Dallas and Austin they have defaulted back to their original opinions due to the fact that they are not getting new information from much of anywhere.

It really is weird, but my theory as to why is that the news guys have their connections in the AD's office, as well as coaches and boosters, which for most of what they need is fine, but in this case they are not connected to what is going on. Furthermore, it seems that the President's offices are extremely tight lipped.

The reason I think that there were some people that had insider information is because Tom Holmoe and the ADs office is handling negotiations and the like, thus for a while there was inside information leaking to boosters and family. It's clear that some of the inside information was not necessarily bogus. but was info that was misinterpreted and then the telephone game ensued and a report that things look really good, becomes BYU is in and an announcement is coming tomorrow.

I was one who has gone from extremely skeptical to cautiously optimistic. But I am naturally a more optimistic person, so my default position is to be optimistic. But my optimism is couched by an understanding that things can change.

If what Bowlsby and Boren announced was the criteria is still what they want and of they want to stabilize the conference, BYU had to be included in expansion. This had not changed. CB insiders sources who have now gone dark were almost all optimistic before they stopped talking. I believe is things were going bad, we'd be hearing insiders start to refect that sentiment.

I'm going to keep the faith. Chicken Littles, flame away.
