I did, and I'm even still adjunct faculty there every few semesters. And yes, you're encouraged to pray over...
...pretty much everything you do. You're even encouraged to ask for others' prayers when you need help with something. But in Mormon culture while we're more than willing to pray for or help others, we seem to be less willing than other Christians I know to ask for prayers or help unless we really think we need it.

And that's my point. While Mormons may pray over everything and put a lot up to God, we are somewhat reticent to ask other *people* for prayers and help... but when we do it's because we really are concerned about something. When we ask for prayers it isn't just a figure of speech. So it would be very strange to me for three people to say "we need your prayers on this" if they knew it was all pretty much done (like many here think) and were just trying to throw someone off the scent.
