Apart from Tanner last year, who was almost able to climb himself out of a bottomless pit, when was the last time we had a complete offense with an experienced QB face Utah?
2009. Coincidentally, the last time we beat Utah.
The next closest thing we had was in 2013 when Taysom was QB, but our passing game was absolutely horrid to start out that season. Taysom had accuracy issues and the receivers had trouble getting open against everyone. People forget that even though BYU beat Texas handily the week before, our passing game was almost nonexistent. And then Jamaal was not 100% against Utah, so even our rushing game was hindered in that game.
If we have a healthy Jamaal and Taysom, and the offensive scheme doesn't look like a complete mess against Arizona, I will be going into that game as confident as I've been since 2009. And to me, there is no person that better deserves to break the rivalry curse than Taysom. Despite all his accolades, he's never had a fair shot at beating Utah.
