At least in their 5 game streak, this is how I see it:
2010: Bradley's knee was down. We ultimately should have won anyway, but if they get that call right, game over. Jacobsen was open several times deep and Heaps just never saw him. And Anae shut the offense down too soon on that last drive.

2011: An outright beating. No excuse. Teams' talent was closer than the score suggested. People forget that it was a 3 point game at halftime, despite all that had already gone wrong for BYU. A lot of Utah fans were sweating it at halftime. But BYU gave up in that game, which still makes me sick. Utah was the better team at that point in the season. Would have been interesting to see them play in November that year, as both teams were on opposite trajectories at that point (Utah lost to Colorado at home to end the season. They were a shell of a team).

2012: Hill in the wings, but we played a QB with a broken back. Absolute choke job by BYU, and another unbelievable fumble snap followed by a TD. I think our team over the course of the season was better than Utah's. #3 defense in the nation, combined with no offense. Surprisingly similar to Utah's past 5 seasons or so, with major QB issues but a stellar D.

2013: This game I felt was actually won by Utah, fair and square. No weird bounces or anything like that. BYU had its circumstances that made things difficult, but you can't use them as excuses. We got inside the 10 how many times, like 5 times? and got something like 10 points out of it. Our one-dimensional offense was to blame.

2015: Hard to imagine a team having better luck than the bounces that went Utah's way in the first quarter. I think both teams were pretty good last year, but at season's end, BYU should have won and was the better team. A few lucky bounces pushed the game in Utah's favor.

So I would say that BYU was the better team in 2010 and 2015 at the time the teams played. At some point, I expect the bounces to go in BYU's favor like they have in the past, like in 1998.
