I think of the Big 12 and Texas as one and the same. While they are not absolute dictators, they do wield most of the power. Think of all the stupid things that the Big 12 (Texas) has done.

1. The losers at Texas only booked $92 million in PROFIT in 2015.
2. The idiots at Texas got ESPN to set up a network for them on which they only have the rights to show one game a year. And, they got ESPN to pay them $15 million per year for 20 years for those rights.
3. Texas also was the driving force behind the conference contract that pays each BIG 12 team $25-$30 million per year. How dumb!
4. In that same contract the morons at Texas got their television partners to give them pro rata money for ANY team they added. It was interesting to see them throw it in the TV people's faces as they opened up the candidate pool to 20 schools and let FOX and ESPN know that if they added Arkansas State, they would have to cough up an additional $25 million per year (almost all of which would go to current BIG 12 schools).
5. The clowns at Texas and the big 12 have not added anyone yet despite a looming deadline (oh wait, there is no looming deadline, at least not for them).

Texas is far from stupid. They hold all the cards and they know it. They have setup a money machine and a conference that allows them, in most years, the easiest access to the playoff of all the conferences. I think they need to add BYU and another team and I think Texas believes that too, but they will do it on their terms, no one else's. And, when they do add BYU and another team, Texas and the rest of the BIG 12 will make a bunch of money from it.

By the way, you know who is actually stupid - everyone who thinks Texas is stupid. Texas is always negotiating and uses the other team's fan-base as "useful idiots" to apply pressure to the administration.

So, the next time you complain that Tom Holmoe needs to do whatever it takes to get BYU into the BIG 12, just remember you are doing Texas's bidding.
