Play call isn't fine. There is no need to hit the end zone with :56 left

I think with that play call on 2nd and 2 with that much time left we had a chance to catch them off guard and get a TD.

I even think the play was there had the ball been delivered on time (earlier) and on target. But WV definitely set Taysom up on that play... the secondary had setup deep and they were expecting a pass play... good on them.

But worst-case Taysom should have just thrown the ball away and then had 2 downs to get a first.

an the opponents offense that we haven't proven we can stop all day.

Well, we had done a okay job of stopping them a few times in the 2nd half actually. But yeah, their offense was good. That's why I liked the idea of getting a TD instead and going up by 4. instead of playing for a tie with the chance that they would have any time left to throw it deep and kick a FG to win it, or going at it in OT.

You've got to play slow and methodical and ensure there is no time left on the clock.

Yes, I like aggressive play calls as well, but there was just no need at that point of the game given the circumstances.

I agree with you, and I guarantee this was the overall thinking. I think Ty wanted to take a shot at a TD at that spot, but Taysom needed to be completely safe about his decision... worst case should have been a throw-away... then fine, you get 2 downs to get 2 yards... you play conservatively, maybe take 1 more shot at a TD, but yeah, just run the clock down to less than 4 sec. and kick the FG.
