because they like his ability to go up and make a catch over a DB. He did it all the time for us he was consistently the guy that was battling a DB on a jump ball and he won that battle more often than not. He bailed out his QB on under thrown deep balls frequently. Not sure I can remember another receiver that was able to do that for us on deep passes.
Mitch was a very good all around WR for us. Not blazing fast but had good hands and showed a lot more strength his Sr year. I don't know how much I credit Holliday for that development to address your overall point about the coach but Matthews was a very hard worker and our only real consistent deep ball option due to the manner in which most of those deep balls needed to be caught.
Mitch has a solid shot at finding a place in the NFL. He already has a guaranteed spot on the practice squad in KC but they are allowing him to visit other teams to see if he can make a roster somewhere. He was our best all around option by far last year.
