I know this is seen as a good thing, and certainly Ty did the program a huge favor by doing this. I respect him, as a man, for taking a cut to help the program out.
But in the long run, this may not be a good thing for BYU. We already struggle at paying coaches and assistants fair market value. This only continues to prolong the financial issues we have with our coaches and their staffs.
Again, in case I was not clear, I applaud Ty for putting the program and others before himself. It appears that he doesn't need the funds based on his career and can take a bit of cut. My problems lies with BYU and most likely the BOT which won't spend the money necessary to get/keep good quality assistants and staff.
I do think Kalani will help if he is the fundraiser that we are lead to believe.
