RE: To fill the shooting specialist role, though--that's probably not obvious.
I don't know leifson's game as well as Beo's, as leifson was added late to fill a spot that Rose was holding open for a certain player. I've followed Beo since he committed last year so I know a little more there as I scouted him his junior year live after he was offered by UW. Leifson was 1st team all region and Beo was 1st team all state. Leifson was recrutited by a wofford and Beo was offered schollys by Boise State, BYU, Central Washington, Colorado, Eastern Washington, and Washington. He has also seen interest from Arizona, Gonzaga, Stanford, Virginia, and Washington State. They are 1 inch difference in height 6'3, 6'4 so I'd call that a wash and their games are similar to where they are both sharp shooters, Beo just has a little bit better ability to create if you watch their videos although by nature they are similar and spot up type shooters. Liefson avg 17pts his senior yr and doesnt seem to be able to create on his own...think Mike Rose also a knockdown shooter but effective! Beo scored 28pts a game his senior year with a little more of an all around game & was the states leading scorer. With that all said HS is HS and college guys change similar from jumping to the NBA from college.

Leifson faced considerably better more athletic competition in HS? Beo did play in Washington's highest classification, thrashed both eastern and western Washington competition. 1st team state tournament honors his sophomore year where his team was ranked nationally and his HS has the largest high school gym in the state (no relevance just context). I'm not sure leifson played any better competition if at all. Beo played on a nationally ranked team his sophmore year (teams 2nd leading scorer that year and definitely was more of a spot up shooter. That team lost 2 D1 players and went downhill from there forcing Beo to do everything as you mentioned. On a BYU team I believe he'll be a little more of a spot up guy if he ever cracks the roster for minutes.

With that said I honestly don't believe either player will get any significant minutes especially once our 2 injured guards are fully healthy.
