Google Fiber shutting down - how long will they stay in Utah?
http://www.ksl.com/?sid=41989449&nid=157
They say they have no plans to leave SLC/Provo, but they are reducing the workforce here and shutting down expansion anywhere else. Seems like only a matter of time before they pull out of Utah. One year?

Don't see anything in there about them withdrawing from anywhere.

They aren't withdrawing from anywhere they currently are. Laying the wiring

Once the infrastructure is in place, it would be foolish to abandon it

Selling seems most likely at this point if you look 2-5 years into the future.

Or maybe it's foolish to keep dumping money into something that is obsolete.

I won't be surprised if Google is out of Utah in the next year.

They aren't shutting down, just aren't doing any more expanding temporarily

Which is pretty ironic for me since I'm reading this in the restroom

Its not shutting down. They're just freezing all expansion.

They already had announced they weren't expanding to Portland after all
