Oh. I thought we were picking random individuals and extrapolating their...
behavior to the entire fan base. Is that not what we are doing?
Suspenders boy has been sufficiently excoriated by both fan bases and the media. But I guess until the Crimson Club puts him in the stockade in the City Creek Courtyard some BYU fans will continue to use him as their go to reference.
Here is the thing. We can only police other fans to the extent that they want to be policed. When a fellow fan was cursing too much at a bowl game I attended in Las Vegas I asked him to curtail it for the sake of my 8 year old. He obliged. At another away event a Ute fan was too drunk. We fans let his friend know it was time to get him out of there and the friend helped him out of the stadium. Hundreds of Utah fans remained in our section for that game, had a great time, and didn't do anything offensive. The one guy was removed.
Those are literally the only two times I can recall being a personal witness to what BYU fans call an epidemic. Both times it was handled and the hundreds of fans around the one still had a great time.
