Step 1 - Report something that someone told you as if it is an absolute fact, based on one source: "I was super-impressed until one of them told me that there are literally hundreds of national championships for high school drill teams."

Step 2 - Extrapolate and assume that you are correct in doing so: "Though I'm sure there are fewer national championships available, I've got to assume that the same sort of thing (multiple championships) is true of dance/drill at the collegiate level."

Step 3 - Use this logic to criticize or demean someone or some group, most popularly a BYU athlete, team, or coach: "I've been much less impressed with the Cougarettes. It's apparent that they found a competition that they can win, and so they keep going back."
