In general, people hate dirty players because they increase the risk of injury

to players on the other team. Same principle applies in pro sports, college sports, church ball, kids playing in the neighborhood among friends, etc. So that's why people care. Because people don't like unnecessary injuries caused by somebody's stupid behavior.
