The 3rd down conversion for Alabama is what lost the game for them (their amazing athletes almost pulled it out). Their defense, as great as it is, spent way too much time on the field during the game. If Alabama had run the ball more it would have not only killed the clock but would have limited the number of touches Clemson would have had.

For those who can't see the comparison between what Kalani was saying and how BYU ground out a fair number of wins this year...there it is. While I believe that Detmer is in line with Kalani on how the game should be, the flashy go-fast/hard/quick/sloppy offense isn't as great a thing as one might seem.

I for one, love watching BYU take 6-8 minutes off the game with a brutal smash-mouth drive. Especially when it's against teams I don't much care for...
