Thanks again... valuable perspective from someone in the industry
Here is my profile....

Max 401k, max wife 401k (same company), SEP from years ago intact (though unable to contribute more due to employment status), and brokerage account to which we make methodical quarterly deposits with no thought of touching it for at least 15 years, likely 20. We've been investing for 10 years, but cranked it up significantly 5 years ago.

I have honestly never considered pulling out during downturns. I loved the Brexit angst... great time to buy.

The reason I want to talk is I've noticed my maverick no-advice USAA index funds have done so well since 2013 that I'm not convinced I need an advisor. I have 5 kids, and his yearly fee is adding up.
