Reality check people
If we (the fans) or BYU runs off the coach with the 10th highest active winning percentage, it will be a huge black eye for the program. We will be lucky if we can get a high school coach with a losing record to come here and put up with the fan base. This is reality people. You can claim lack of progress all you want, you can whine about third place finishes until you are blue in the face, however, if we as fans demand a new coach that will do something that has never been done in Provo before, we had better tighten our bootstraps because we will lose everything Rose has accomplished and a bunch more. As a cautionary tale consider the case of Nebraska football coach Frank Solich. He took on a program that (unlike BYU) had had considerable success under it's previous coach. He took the team to a national championship game, won a division championship and had an outright championship. However, he had a 7-7 season followed by a 9-3 season. The fans demanded a change. He was fired with a 76.6% win percentage. The "best" coach that would even touch the job had barely a winning record. This was at a school that had a history of success (unlike BYU), no honor code (unlike BYU) and was the top dog in a major conference. The team has not sniffed a national championship game since.
If you are upset about the basketball team, I'm sorry. However, we have a well liked, successful coach. If we dump him, it will be ugly. The black eye will be huge. We will lose current and future recruits in mass and the new coach will be either a desperate loser or an inexperienced idiot who is too stupid to stay away from a toxic job.
